Rob Kutzik named Executive Director of non-profit camping and outdoor education programs in Horsham.
Non-profit executive, public school educator and fundraising professional joins the College Settlement of Philadelphia as its sixth executive director in the organization’s more than 125 year history.
Kutzik took the reins of the 235-acre camps on Witmer Road as Executive Director on February 16 from Interim Executive Director, Chris Weinrich. The day and overnight summer camps and year-round environmental education program are non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations.
As a fundraising professional with the Philadelphia Education Fund, Kutzik helped raise more than $1 million in a little over a year. This along with 16 years with the MICROSOCIETY organization in many positions—and most recently as Senior Vice President—gives him the experience the Board of Trustees was looking for in a new Executive Director. Ralph McDevitt, Chairman of the Board, believes Mr. Kutzik will be a dynamic leader for the organization, creating partnerships in the greater Philadelphia community and working as a relationship builder with our board, staff and community partners.
An elementary and middle school teacher for the School District of Philadelphia for six years, Kutzik was selected to a district-wide committee to review standards and design a new multi-disciplinary curriculum.
Kutzik believes in the transformational experience that camping and the outdoors can have on a young person from his first hand experience as an executive with the Boy Scouts of America.
While earning his BA from Temple University, Kutzik worked in after school and summer camping programs. He received an M. Ed from Arcadia University in 1991. In addition to Kutzik’s education and well rounded non-profit experience, he is also an accomplished songwriter and musician.
