Information for Counselors-in-Training (CITs)

The Counselor-in-Training program is designed to give former campers the opportunity to familiarize themselves with staff roles and develop their leadership skills. CITs help supervise campers, facilitate activities, manage camper conflicts, and generally assist counselors in preparation for joining the staff here at College Settlement.

CITs are an extremely important part of camp! Our goal is to help you enjoy your summer and provide you with valuable work experience. All the responsibilities of being a CIT help you transition from being a camper to being an amazing staff member; one who knows camp better than anyone else, can really relate to campers, and will help provide the same “camp magic” that you experienced when you were here. Should you decide to join the staff after your time as a CIT, you will be paid a little extra.

All campers and staff will be required to be fully vaccinated at least 2 week prior to the start of their summer camp session. If you are unable to be fully vaccinated, you will not be able to attend camp this year. 

We also ask that you act responsibly in your time away from camp – stay home as much as possible, especially in the days leading up to your session. In preparation for camp, we ask that you refrain from attending any large gatherings or engaging in any behavior that may increase your risk of contracting COVID-19. As CITs, you must join the staff and camper families in helping prevent COVID cases at camp.

In the future, the CIT program will expand to offer year-round leadership and professional development opportunities for Counselors-in-Training. Stay tuned for more information soon for our 2022 season applications!

2022 Deadlines

March 1, 2022: Applications posted

April 19, 2022: Applications close

ALL applications must be submitted and completed by 4/19

April 26, 2022: Position offers sent out

May 3, 2022: Final day to respond to position offer

Late May (date TBD): Mandatory CIT/Parent Meeting (will likely be virtual)

June 7, 2022: Final day to submit paperwork
