Americorps NCCC Getting Things Done!

This spring, we’re fortunate to have the Cedar 6 Team from Americorps NCCC helping us develop trails, expand the group challenge areas, and work with some of our schools.

The team of ten are with us until April 25th. Students and teachers attending Outdoor School this spring will get to meet the team and possibly work a little with them.

So far the team has fixed and tuned 87 bikes, cleared acres of Pennypack Creek banks of thorns, and helped with five schools’ day trips.

This is a great partnership with a wonderful organization. Check back regularly to follow the progress as they work with the camp staff on program support and site improvement projects.

Team member Tavian “Tay” Bridges  was recently featured on Comcast Newsmakers, speaking about AmeriCorps and their work here at the camps.

Here are some photos of their work so far: Cedar 6 at work!

Below: On April 2nd, Americorps TEAM 6 met with Township Manager Bill Walker and College Settlement’s Karyn Bonner and Susan Daily to review all the hard work the TEAM has been doing at the Camps. Bill described the wide array of features and services of Horsham, including its civic groups, volunteers, and parks and trails, and encouraged the young service corps Members to pursue their dreams.
